REPUBLIC OF KOREA-STAND-BY ARRANGEMENT-REVIEW, MODIFICATION, AND WAIVER OF PERFORMANCE CRITERION The Executive Directors considered the staff paper on the fourth quarterly review under the Stand-By Arrangement for the Republic of Korea, together with the authorities’ letter of intent (EBS/98/190, 1 l/13/98, and Sup. 1, 1 l/30/98). The staff representative from the Asia and pacific Department submitted the following statement: The following statement provides additional information that has become available since the circulation of the staff report (EBS/98/190, Supplement 1). The~authorities issued a statement on December 9 confirming their intention to repurchase the US$2.8 billion under the SRF that falls due in December.
